Medical Interpreters are a key component of a healthcare team when assisting persons with limited English proficiency. The role of Medical Interpreters is to facilitate the exchange of communication between a patient and a health care provider as verbatim as possible in consideration of cultural practices, context, slang, and linguistic variation. Because their role is to convey information, interpreters should not be expected to be knowledgeable about medicine, pharmacology, or medical procedures beyond basics. Interpreters may also inform the physician when a patient does not appear to demonstrate comprehension. Average salary of a Medical Interpreters in MA is $54,600-$75,400 (entry level-experienced).
This program requires that students be fluent in English and at least one other language. A speaker is considered fluent in a language when they can confidently, competently, accurately and easily express themselves in a language other than their own native language.

The need for professionals who understand how to code healthcare services and procedures for third-party insurance reimbursement is growing substantially.
This program covers: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), the ICD-10 for both diagnosis and procedure coding, and basic claims processes for insurance reimbursements. This billing and coding program delivers the skills learners need to solve insurance billing and coding problems. It details proper assignment of codes and the process to file claims for reimbursement.

Phlebotomists are a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to obtain patients blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed throughout the healthcare system including in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, medical group practices, HMOs, public health facilities, veteran hospitals, insurance carriers, and in other healthcare settings.
This program prepares learners to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Learners will become familiar with all aspects of blood collection and will review the skills needed to perform venipunctures safely. Topics in this course include medical terminology, related anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, and procedures for collection of other types of specimens within the scope of practice of the phlebotomist.

Program fulfills the 60 educational hours required to become a Massachusetts Certified Addiction Recovery Coach. Recovery Coaches play a vital role in the community; they serve as guided and mentors to individuals with drug and alcohol problems, empower people on their personal journey by providing many options and "paths" to recovery. Training participants will receive tools and resources designed to help people heal from the devastating effects of addiction, whether they are just entering recovery or looking to deepen and sustain their recovery. For individuals considering a career as a recovery coach or peer mentor, or individuals who simply want to learn more effective methods for supporting people through their recovery process.
